5 tips for Aspiring Writers

Art is food for the soul that is why people often choose cinema, literature or theater as leisure. It expands our senses and thoughts, and it is common that, when we are young, to want to live from art.

To begin with, we can see: if you want art to evolve as a hobby or perhaps make a living from literature, cinema or theater, the beginning of everything is in the word.

Would you like to take the first steps by creating content through words? Check out our precious tips!

1 – Establish a reading and writing routine

Poor readers will never be good writers. If you're not used to reading, it's time to build a reading routine. Reading good books will give you knowledge and repertoire to develop your writing style. Set aside at least 15 minutes a day to read, this will make perfect sense when you notice the books you read piling up on the shelf.

You should also create a writing routine. Three times a week would be excellent to start. Would you rather use laptops or notebooks? Whatever! The important thing is to exercise writing. Just like muscles, your ability to write doesn't evolve without stimulation.

What would you like to write about?

1 – Write your opinion about the news.

2 – Write short stories or chronicles.

3 – Write poetry.

Follow your heart and bring ideas to life!

The important thing is to spend more and more hours of dedication. Good writers must work hard.

2 – Always have at hand a notepad to write everything down

Ideas, if not written down, may fade away. Don't trust your memory, it will trip you up. Write everything down! Be it a sentence, a thought, a piece of history, a piece of news, an observation or any information you find necessary.

Have a notepad, type it on your cell phone, or write it down in a notebook. But your notes must stick together so, at some point, you will have a series of small pieces that may form the puzzle frame of a very rich content.

3 – Have a file with everything you have written

Have you filled out an entire notepad with outlandish ideas? Excellent! Let’s move on to the next step!

Having a file with everything you have written will be quite useful when you need a new project or idea.

4 – Re-read your old texts

As stated earlier, our memory can betray us, so re-reading old texts or fragments helps us create new insights. Make it a habit to re-read the content you've written once a year, or when you have filled out a new notebook, on a regular basis. In addition to being nostalgic, you will also feel proud of your accomplishment.

5 – Writing is the beginning, the middle, and the end

Writing involves a whole creative process. You must have an insight or idea, put it down on a paper, create a first draft, and then fine-tune the words in search of the exact format and content you want to.

When the written content is ready, 50% of the process is done. Now it's time to PUBLISH! As long as you don't publish your content, it may get lost in the limbo of your laptop's HD or stuck in a drawer. PUB-LISH!

Publishing is giving birth to your content; it will only exist therefrom. That's when it is exposed to the scrutiny and appreciation of people.

Your content should not be yours alone, it will only have value when appreciated by others.

Writing is the beginning, the middle, and the end.

Writing is the beginning, while publishing is the middle and the end.
